Office of Catechesis

“Catechesis” comes from the Greek word meaning to “echo” Jesus Christ, the Word of God. This office supports pastors, parish directors, parents, catechists, and teachers with faith formation and religious education in families, parishes, and schools.

Totus Tuus Summer Program

Each Totus Tuus Summer Missionary Team consists of four college-aged catechist-witnesses who receive training and travel to six parish sites for week-long summer formation activities with children and youth. Stipends and other accommodations are provided.

Confirmation Retreat

Youth who will be confirmed in 2023-24 are invited to join the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend Confirmation Retreat! This highly engaging and enriching experience is open to groups from parishes and schools, both those who are unable to facilitate their own retreat and those who want to supplement their parish retreat with this dynamic, large-scale opportunity.

Foundations of Faith Course

This course is open to all catechists of the diocese: Catholic School teachers, Directors of Religious Education, Parish Catechists, Youth Ministers, R.C.I.A. teams, Adult Faith Formation leaders, and those who are charged with handing on the faith to others (which includes all Catholics!).

OSV Scholars MA Program

Diocesan religion teachers, directors of religious education, youth ministers and other catechetical parish ministers are eligible to pursue a Master of Arts (Theology) degree through the University of Notre Dame under a grant from the Our Sunday Visitor Institute.
