Campus & Young Adult Ministry

Ministering with those in their late teens, 20’s, 30’s, whether single, divorced, widowed, married, with or with out children.

We are here to help you connect with key people, groups, resources, and activities throughout the diocese that share our mission.  We rely on you, the young adult, to communicate to us the information you would like available and how you would like it presented in a fresh way.

We are here to inspire, support and challenge you to experience a relationship with Jesus Christ and others through the Catholic faith in all its fullness, diversity, and beauty. We invite you to get involved.

Our Mission

Inspired by the call of the Holy Spirit, Campus and Young Adult Ministry is dedicated to encouraging and challenging young adults to deepen their union with God the Father. We invite young adults to witness their faith in Jesus Christ, to use their gifts in the service of God, and to build their communities of faith wherever their life’s journey may take them.

Our History

Campus/Young Adult ministry is an integrated diocesan, campus and parish young adult response to the U.S. Bishops’ Pastoral Plan, “Sons and Daughters of the Light”. The bishops dedicated the vision of this plan in 1997 to Catholic young adults in their late teens, twenties and thirties.

Here is a quote from that document: ”During your life journey, continue to hope and to dream. We want to support you in every way we can . . . This is one of the works of the Christian community—to help you live your life in Jesus Christ. In meeting you, the young adult members of the Church, we are more aware of your capability to love and serve. We invite you to continue to give of yourself, your time, your energies, and your talents for the good of others.”

Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI have been strong supporters of young adults as evidenced by their presence at World Youth day gatherings and special messages that they have conveyed throughout their pontificates. In local dioceses throughout the world, bishops, priests, and other leaders journey with young adults through various Diocesan Campus/Young Adult Ministry programs like this one.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot

be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under

a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light

to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your

light shine before men, that they may see your good

deeds and praise your Father in heaven. – Matthew 14-16
