Theology on Tap Summer Series:  Shaping a Changing World

GRANGER — This 4-week series consisting of 3 weeks of Catholic speakers followed by a social event is returning to St. Joseph County! This event is open to all young adults in their 20s and 30s, single and married. Remaining session dates are August 1 8. This summer's theme is Shaping a Changing World.  Aug 1 – Environmental Stewardship – Tim Ruggaber | Aug 8 – Summer Mass & Cookout! – Msgr. Michael Heintz (at St. Patrick's County Park.


A Catholic Tour of St. Joseph Cemetery

MISHAWAKA — St. Joseph Church will sponsor "A Catholic Tour of St. Joseph Cemetery" at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 5. The tour, led by Pete De Kever, will explain the cemetery's history and visit 13 prominent graves. St. Joseph Cemetery is located at the southeast corner of Liberty Drive and Jefferson Boulevard. The tour will last one hour, and there is no cost to participate. In case of rain, August 12 will be the alternate date.


Christ Child Society of South Bend 70th Anniversary Brunch and Open House

SOUTH BEND — August 6, 2017 is the 70th Anniversary of the founding of Christ Child Society of South Bend.   All Christ Child members, their families and friends, donors, supporters, volunteers and interested members of the community are invited to a Light Brunch Buffet from Noon until 2 PM, with a short program beginning at 12:45 PMReservations may be made by sending a $5.00 check payable to The Christ Child Society, P. Saint Pius X Flyin' Lion 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk

GRANGER — Saint Pius X Church is excited to announce The Second Annual Flyin’ Lion 5K! This event features a chip-timed 5K Race and a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, as well as post-race celebrations. This year's race will support the teens and young adults from Saint Pius X Church who will travel to participate in World Youth Day in 2019. Queen of Peace PeaceFest 2017

MISHAWAKA — Queen of Peace is having their annual celebration of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Festival will run on Saturday, August 26th from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. with many events: craft show, classic car show, huge rummage sale, kids games, food vendors, piggy raffle, petting zoo, trivia night and many other activities! The weekend will end with a Mass at 10:30 with Bishop Rhoades, on Sunday, August 27th, followed by a lunch served by the Knights of Columbus and their spouses. Education for Ministry: Sacraments

FORT WAYNE and MISHAWAKA — The sacraments unit of the Education for Ministry Basic Certification Program will introduce the Catholic understanding of sacrament and the Scriptural basis, theology, and effects of each of the Seven Sacraments.  The Sacramental Economy as an interaction between God and the truth that sacrament is a moment of grace leading toward God are the foundations of this unit.  Class will be held on Thursday evenings August 24 and 31September 14 and 21 from 6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.  In Fort Wayne the Archbishop Noll Catholic Center will host the class.  In the South Bend area the St. John Paul II Center, Mishawaka will host the class. Rembrandt's Religious Prints: The Feddersen Collection 

NOTRE DAME —  The Snite Museum of Art on the campus of the University of Notre Dame presents "Rembrandt's Religious Prints: The Feddersen Collection," an exhibition of 70 prints exploring the sweep of historical, theological, and artistic impulses that informed the Dutch seventeenth-century master printmaker’s religious and biblical prints. Education for Ministry: Prayer

FORT WAYNE and MISHAWAKA — This prayer of the Education for Ministry Basic Certification Program will introduce the Church's teaching on prayer and provide tools for growth in personal prayer.  The nature of prayers as spiritual work that opens the mind and heart to faith will be addressed along with different forms of prayer used by the Church.  A portion of this course will be spent on the depths of the Lord's Prayer. Class will be held on Thursday evenings October 5, 12, 19, and 26 from 6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. In the Fort Wayne area the Archbishop Noll Catholic Center will host the class.  In the South Bend area the St. John Paul II Center, Mishawaka will host the class. FORT WAYNE and MISHAWAKA — This morality of the Education for Ministry Basic Certification Program will present the foundation of Catholic moral teaching with a strong emphasis on morality as a way of life that considers how the human person was created as well as a choice to live according to the Gospel as an act of love in response to God.  Instead of approaching morality as a list of "thou shalt nots", this unit will focus on the notion that living according to God's law brings freedom and joy.Class will be held on Thursday evenings November 9, 16, and 30; December 7 from 6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.In the Fort Wayne area the Archbishop Noll Catholic Center will host the class.  In the South Bend area the St. John Paul II Center, Mishawaka will host the class.To register please visit www.diocesefwsb.org/Education-for-Ministry-Program by Thursday, November 2 or when the first 40 participants have registered.For more information, contact Janice Martin: jmartin@diocesefwsb.org | 260-399-1411


Weekly Worship Schedule at the Chapel of Divine Mercy in the Life Center

SOUTH BEND —  (2018 Ironwood Circle, South Bend) Tuesdays: Mass is celebrated at 7:30 AM by Dominican Rev. Bruno Shah, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until 2 PM. Wednesday: Mass is celebrated at 1:30 Masses (weekly rotation of priests: Revs. Ed Krause, CSC; Glenn Kohrman; Vincent Joseph; and Tom Shoemaker, Chaplain.) Exposition follows until 6:30 PM. Friday: Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 8:30 AM until 2 PM. All are welcome!
