Blessed Solanus Casey (1870-1957), who resided in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend for the last ten years of his life, will be remembered in his first-ever feast day celebration on July 30, 2018!
To mark this grace-filled occasion, we invite you to join us as we pray a novena (page two below, or in the right sidebar) leading up to his feast day. In doing so, we will be uniting our prayers to our brothers and sisters in the Archdiocese of Detroit, where Father Solanus Casey lived and served as a Capuchin Friar.
“Father Solanus Casey lived in our diocese for 10 years, near the end of his life, from 1946 to 1956 at St. Felix Friary in Huntington. During those years, many of the faithful of our diocese were touched by his humble ministry, by his wise counsel and his example of trust in God. In January, I wrote to the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship for permission to celebrate his feast day as an optional memorial in our diocese. Here in our diocese, perhaps the only diocese in the United States besides the Archdiocese of Detroit, we will be able to celebrate the memorial of Blessed Solanus on July 30." -Bishop Kevin C. All are also invited to join Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades as he blesses a brand new statue of Blessed Solanus Casey at St. Felix Catholic Center in Huntington! More information can be found on our diocesan calendar .
