Our Challenge For many years the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, like so many others, has experienced a decline in priestly vocations. Yet throughout those years, we have faithfully prayed for an increase of vocations. In recent years, by the grace of God, we have realized a significant increase of men discerning the holy priesthood. Since 2010 we have experienced a steady growth in the number of men entering the seminary, and this trend is projected to continue for years to come. Of course the increased number of seminarians, coupled with rising tuition and cost of living expenses, has challenged our diocese to see that these expenses are paid for each year. On average, the annual cost of each seminarian's tuition, books, fees, and other expenses (including health insurance) is roughly $40,000.
Ways to help
The next annual Pentecost Collection for Seminarian Education is scheduled for the weekend of June 4th, 2017. Your continued generosity to this collection each year will help to provide the needed funds for seminarian formation.
