EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY Sponsored by the OFFICE OF CATECHESIS Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend Walk as people of the Light and Truth Education For Ministry is a two-year program offering a rich foundation in religious studies.  This program is intended for those participating in various ministries in the diocese (e.g., catechetical, liturgical, RCIA, pastoral and youth ministry). This program begins with an overview of Scripture, the required foundation for study.  Other key areas of study are the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church: Creed, Sacraments, Morality, and Prayer.  In addition, a course in church History will be part of the program. Courses in the key areas of study are designed to be taken by semester over a two-year period.  Upon completion of the program, participants will receive Diocesan Certification in Catechetical Leadership. Scholarship monies fund the cost of instructors.  Parishes and/or individuals are asked to assist in the purchase of books and materials required for participation in the program.  The required text is the Catechism of the Catholic Church. This program features liturgical prayer (Liturgy of the Hours) in addition to the experience of mature dialogue about the course content and its application to life.  Education in our Faith is, as beautifully stated in the document Adult Catechesis in the Christian Community, ...an invitation to faithfully practice the discipleship of Jesus and to judge all personal, social, and spiritual experiences in the light of faith.
