Father Carkenord celebrates 55 years as a priest with performance, reception
WATERLOO — St. Michael the Archangel Parish will have an evening performance of “Sermon on the Mount” by Frank Runyun in honor of pastor, Father David Carkenord celebrating his 55th anniversary to the priesthood. on Friday, May 26, at 7 p.m., in the church. A free will offering will be accepted. There will be a reception following the performance in the parish hall. The invitation is extended to everyone who would like to help Father Carkenord celebrate.
13th Day Pilgrimage for Fatima
ANGOLA — The World Apostolate of Fatima Fort Wayne-South Bend Division will celebrate the 13th Day Parish Pilgrimage on Tuesday, June 13, with Mass at St. Anthony of Padua, Angola with Rev. Robert Showers, OFM Conv. The Fatima speaker will be Rev. Glenn Kohrman. Mass will be followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, a Marian procession (weather permitting), recitation of the Rosary, Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Benediction. A social event will be sponsored by each parish to end the celebration. This event is part of a six-month celebration of the 100th anniversary of the apparitions at Fatima. First Saturday rosary group announced
ROME CITY — Our Lady, Mother of Mercy Center will begin a first Saturday rosary group at the Victorian, 2730 E. Northport Rd. on the first Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Breakfast will follow praying the rosary.
Synod 2018: Complete this survey!
In 2018, bishops from around the world will convene for an Extraordinary Synod on Young People, the Faith, & Vocational Discernment. The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend is asking youth, young adults, parents, staff, & priests to fill out a survey so that the experiences of our young people can be shared with Pope Francis and the synod bishops. Catholic Youth Summer Camp 2017 – Soul Praise!
HOWE — Imagine this… a camp setting on a beautiful lake where young boys and girls from the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, guided by enthusiastic, interested, and kind adults, enjoy nature, engage in fun and meaningful outdoor activities such as archery, swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, the famous obstacle course, and crafts. They participate in daily Mass, experience Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, have the opportunity to experience our Lord’s love in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and learn to pray the Rosary more deeply. This is the overnight camping adventure that awaits the children in our diocese if they are going into the 4th, 5th and 6th grade in the fall of 2017. The dates are June 25th – 30th. The location is Camp Lutherwald, Howe, IN, between South Bend and Fort Wayne. Brochures are being developed. The cost is $425 per camper; sibling cost is $400.
We are in need of volunteer adult staff, ages 18 -24, and 25 years and above to serve as counselors, senior chaperones, musicians, nurses, and craft leaders. We are also looking for junior counselors ages 16-17. Applications can be accessed at the www.stjudeparish.net.
