This position is responsible for scheduling events, maintaining/cleaning the Parish Hall and for setting up and removal of chairs, tables, and other equipment as needed for events in the Parish Hall. St. Thérèse Little Flower parish is seeking a full-time Director of Sacred Music and Liturgy. Located just east of the University of Notre Dame, the parish has a piano but no functional organ currently, offering four weekend Masses and without a parish school. About 1,000 people attend Mass each weekend (prior to COVID-19). This role will arrange for all parish liturgies that have music, personally accompany 3 or 4 weekend liturgies, and lead a regular practice for cantors and/or seasonal choir. Additional responsibilities include: preparing and playing for funerals, weddings, and holy days; attending parish staff meetings; coordinates training for and schedules all lectors, servers, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, and greeters. Must be proficient in piano and leading a choir, as well as familiar with teachings and liturgical practices of the Catholic Church. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Sacred Music preferred. Salary varies with experience and proficiency, beginning around $675 per week, and will offer benefits. Two weeks (incl. up to four weekends) of paid vacation per year. Director of Liturgy and Music
St. Jude and Sacred Heart parishes are seeking a Director of Liturgy and Music. This is a new full-time position created from two previously part-time jobs. The parish is located just 15 minutes from the University of Notre Dame and 1.5 hours from downtown Chicago. St. Jude, the main parish campus, was recently renovated and features a gorgeous Baldwin concert grand piano and a 3-manual Alhborn-Galanti digital organ. Sacred Heart is the classic country church with digital organ and piano in a choir loft. Both campuses feature three-part (SAB) adult choirs with potential for further growth. St. Jude has a school with both elementary and middle school liturgical choirs. Hymnals: St. Jude - Worship IV; Sacred Heart - Gather Comp. 2. Parish uses Onelicense for occasional worship supplements.
Requirements: Director will continue to foster the “full, conscious and active participation” of parishioners in the liturgical celebrations especially through music. He or she will plan music for all parish liturgies, personally accompany 3 weekend liturgies, supervise an assistant accompanying 2 other liturgies, and lead a weekly adult choir practice at each campus. Additional responsibilities include: St. Jude School Masses, school liturgical choir practices, reconciliation services, holy days, Triduum, and parish staff meetings. Must be proficient in piano, organ, and choral conducting. Must be familiar with teachings and liturgical practices of the Catholic Church. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Organ or Sacred Music preferred.
Compensation commensurate with experience and will include benefits. Generous time-off policy. Two days in a row guaranteed off weekly with very limited exceptions. Six weekends of paid vacation per year.
